CAT(Common Admission Test) is the entrance test used to recruit candidates into 7 prestigios IIM's in India.
Apart
from IIM's there there are many institutes in INDIA whose admission's
are based on CAT which also consists some private world class B-schools
This is the top management entrance exam in INDIA.
CAT has become one of the most competitive exams to judge the potential of the candidates willing to pursue their career in business administration.
CAT Eligibility Criteria:
The candidate must hold a Bachelor's Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Differently Abled (DA)categories], awarded by any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
Reservations :
As per Government of India
requirement 15% and 7½% seats are reserved for SC and ST candidates. 3%
seats are reserved for Persons with Disability (PWD) of which 1% each
is reserved for low-vision/blindness, hearing impairment and locomotor
disability/cerebral palsy.
Availability of forms for CAT 2009-2010:
CAT vouchers will be available through selected bank branches by the end of August 2009. After buying the voucher candidates will be supposed to apply online. The voucher will be available for Rs. 1400 for general candidates and for Rs. 700 for SC/ST candidates. Admit Cards will also be sent by e-mail to the candidates which they will have to print.

CAT EXAM PATTERN:
CAT is of two and a half hours duration having multiple choice questions from the followng sections:
Data Interpretation and logical Reasoning
Quantitative Ability
Verbal Ability and Comprehension
Candidates are expected to perform well in all the three sections as there are separate cut-offs for individual sections as well. Each question has 5 options. A candidate gets 4 marks for a right answer and 1 mark is deducted for an incorrect answer.
